Soprano Jennifer Kayner Honan, a native of Rochester New York, currently lives and works in the New York City area as a freelance musician, music teacher and vocal coach. She is tenacious, focused, committed, and believes in her craft. 

In June of 2023 she sang the role of Lucy in The Telephone by Menotti at the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia (Mexico).  In February of 2024, she sang the role of dater 15 in the opera Speed Dating Tonight by Michael Ching with Buffalo Opera Unlimited.  In the fall of 2024, she released 3 songs she recorded with pianist Shane Schag composed by Stephen Shewan. These songs can be found on Spotify, YouTube and other platforms.  In October of 2024 Jennifer performed with jazz pianist Lon Kaiser a recital of Charles Ives songs at his birthplace in Dansbury, Connecticut  for the 150th celebration of his birth. In March of 2025, she sang in the Verdi Marathon in Busseto, Italy with the Regium Lepidi Opera. In July of 2025 she sang the role of Frasquita in Carmen by Bizet with the Clyde Opera in Glasgow, Scotland. In November of 2025 made her debut with the Opera Atlantic Company in New Jersey. In December of 2025, she premiered the duet version of A Song of You and Me by Stephen Shewan with tenor Mark Daniel at a recital with the Opera Guild of Rochester.  She is currently collaborating with Canadian composer Robert Bruce on one of his song cycles.  In June of 2026 she will make her Carnegie Hall Debut with Giacomo Franci and the New York Chamber Players Orchestra. She is an active recitalist, Church musician and freelance artist.  

She has studied with  Dr. Jeffery McGhee,  Katherine Ceisinski,  Joan Patenaude-Yarnell, and Christopheren Nomura.  She currently coaches with Ted Taylor and Mirko Matarazzo. 

Jennifer holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Music Education from Roberts Wesleyan University and a Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. 

Jennifer is also a triathlete, an avid outdoors lover and a great mover.
